“Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” — an African proverb meaning a person is a person through other people. Or as some say, a man is not an island.
God is the beginning, the center, and the end. He is in everyone’s heart and surrounds us with His love. Though the Lord is all we truly need, He still made us to live in community. Your life may revolve around you and God, but the world does not revolve around you alone.
You may be the kindest person — or even the most flawed, as some would say — but one truth remains: the Lord knows you need others in your life. If it’s in His plan, He will not deny you that blessing.
Singleness is not a punishment; it’s a season of refinement. It is a time when God shapes your character so you won’t bring destruction into a future relationship.
George Janko once said on his podcast, “Why should the Lord give you His daughter — or son — when you still fall into sins that would break that relationship and harm their walk with God?” In other words, why would God give you a blessing you cannot yet steward? Imagine giving a child a million in cash — would they spend it wisely? No. The same applies to relationships: maturity and readiness matter.
So, wait for the Lord. His timing is perfect.
When God made Adam, He gave him a relationship with Himself before introducing Eve. The order matters. Before you pursue a relationship with another person, pursue a deep relationship with God.
A godly marriage, friendship, or partnership prospers because it is built on a shared foundation — Christ Himself.
Think about it: friends who share a hobby like gaming or makeup get along well… but only in that one area. When the Lord is your shared center, you connect in every part of life:
This unity is not possible without the One who holds all things together (Colossians 1:17).
No man can do it all alone. But with God’s grace and the people He places in your life, you can do great things. Scripture reminds us: “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil” (Ecclesiastes 4:9). Even Jesus taught that where two or three gather in His name, He is there among them (Matthew 18:20).
