Reinforcing New Habits

Now, we seek the Lord by creating new habits. This is where many people get lost — they try to adopt habits that suit others without considering whether those habits truly align with who they are. There are many ways to seek the Lord “in all you do,” but one foolproof way is reading the Bible. Nothing surpasses this. Reading the Bible is how you come to know the Lord and His ways. Then, when you apply what you’ve read, you begin to see God’s work in your life. The Bible grows your knowledge and wisdom; applying it grows your faith.

When and How to Read the Bible

So, when should you read the Bible? Which chapters should you start with? Maybe your pastor says one thing, and your friend another. But the real question is: do those methods work for you, or did they only work for them? Do their ways of applying Scripture resonate with your life and rhythm? Maybe not. Maybe yes. Seeking the Lord is a personal journey. You can involve others, but keep the deepest spiritual lessons — the nuggets — between you and God.

Read when you're most alert and focused, whether that’s morning or evening. I advise reading at a time when tiredness won’t interfere. Reading can become dull if your body is exhausted.

Acts of Love Alongside Spiritual Growth

Also, set a weekly goal to show love in some tangible way — give to the homeless, donate to orphans, or offer help at a local store. It doesn’t mean spending all your savings, though that would be incredibly generous. Even small acts, done sincerely, count before God.

Replacing Bad Habits with Healthy Ones

Once you break a bad habit, it’s critical to replace it with a new, healthy one. If you don’t, the ways of the world will likely fill that gap with another destructive habit. But if you can learn to remove and replace, you’re halfway there. The rest will be easier. Finding habits that truly work for you, and that are in line with God’s ways, will become natural with time and surrender.
