Social Media

Not just Instagram or TikTok — all of it. TV, magazines, every kind of media. They all shape how Christianity is seen today.

The Mixed Messages on Social Media

How do they shape it? Sure, there are bad influences, but there are also good ones. That’s true. But let me ask you this: when you open TikTok for the first time, does it recommend content from good, God-seeking people? Do Bible verses pop up? Religious texts? Messages that help you grow in truth? Not really.

Designed for Engagement, Not Holiness

Social media is designed to hook you in. And the truth is, most people are drawn to content that isn’t holy. That’s why it pushes things like explicit videos, half-naked influencers, or dark, demonic animations. It knows what pulls the average mind in.

The Danger of Mixed Teachings

These platforms are global — people from all kinds of backgrounds and beliefs come together to speak on everything. The problem shows up when people talk about God, say “Jesus this, Jesus that,” but come from different denominations or belief systems. Then you start picking up all these mixed teachings that may not even line up with the Bible.

Addiction and Overstimulation

It gets worse when you absorb the bad content that’s constantly pushed at you — because it’s more engaging, more addictive. Like porn: it's more addictive than real sex because it overstimulates your brain.¹ Those videos give you more dopamine than you actually need, which tricks your body into feeling satisfied without doing any of the work that leads to real joy. And dopamine without effort? That’s dangerous.

Guarding Your Heart and Mind

“Above all, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Your mind is the bottle that holds your soul. Your heart is the door to your spirit. Protect them. Social media can slip in through both — quietly, even without your permission. With so many opinions and ideas flying around, it’s easy to get pulled into something that changes how you think, what you believe, even how you see Christ.
